Such a kind man. He always had time for a chat at the lifeboat shop. Thinking of you all.

Home / Funeral notices / Arthur Henry Bellamy
Example notice, fictional personAged 84, of Saltmarne. Died 28 October 2026.
Peacefully at home on 28 October 2026, surrounded by his family. Arthur, aged 84, beloved husband of the late Joan, dear father of Peter and Susan, and a much-loved grandad to Ellie, Sam and Rosie.
Family flowers only, please. Donations in Arthur’s memory, if desired, to Saltmarne Lifeboat Fund.
Dad was born in Saltmarne in 1942, in the house on Quay Lane where his father mended nets. Apart from two years of National Service, he never really left, and he never wanted to.
He worked on the ferries for thirty-one years and knew every tide on this stretch of coast. He met Mum at the Harbour Hall dance in 1963. They were married for fifty-four years, and he never stopped bringing her flowers on a Friday.
In retirement he volunteered with the lifeboat shop, grew far too many runner beans, and taught all three grandchildren to fish off the end of the pier. He will be missed more than we can say.

Arthur taught me to tie my first knot on the ferry when I was eleven. Rest well, sir.
